AGM Trends 2016

07 October 2016

Equiniti has published its annual review of trends and developments during the 2016 AGM season

The review formed the backdrop of this year’s AGM Forum that took place in September, which was once again well attended by company client delegates. Delivered by Equiniti’s Lisa Graham and Chris Stamp, the forum included topics to be considered when planning AGM’s in 2017:

  • Pre-Emption Group template resolutions which the Investment Association are now fully in support of, and through their research arm, the Institutional Voting and Information Service, will now amber top a company who do not use the template resolutions, and red top any company which doesn’t do so from 1 January 2017.
  • Executive remuneration which continues to be a hot topic and is now part of the Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) Commons Select Committee Inquiry which seeks feedback submissions by 26 October 2016.
  • Continued scrutiny on the re-appointment of auditors and the remuneration of auditors.

Equiniti also shared ground breaking innovation that heralded a new era of shareholder engagement, with the first Digital AGM. Equiniti worked with Jimmy Choo to deliver a fully electronic AGM; a first for a UK PLC.  For further information about the first electronic AGM, click here.

As usual the topics generated interesting debate and feedback around digital AGMs was thought provoking and very encouraging.

“The 2016 AGM forum was well received by a number of clients, an interesting and interactive session” said presenter Lisa Graham.
